April 13, 1959: Sidney Poitier became the first black actor to win the
Academy Award for Best Actor - for his role in Lilies of the Field.
April 21, 1986: Michael Jordan scored 63 points against the Boston Celtics
setting the NBA Playoff record for most points.
April 28, 1891: African American inventor George Toliver was awarded a
patent for the ship propeller.
